YOUR FIRST DIVE
Complete your Try Dive in the crystal-clear waters of St Julian’s or St Paul’s Bay. A perfect activity for experiencing scuba diving for the very first time, with no previous experience required.
In this 2–3 hour activity, we’ll teach you how to use the diving equipment, you’ll learn to breathe underwater, and you’ll complete a real open water dive; always accompanied by a professional instructor.
A try dive is a first scuba diving experience; a beginner’s taster dive that lets you breathe underwater and complete a real dive in the sea: the ideal test before your Scuba Diver certification, no course required.
Also known as a discover scuba diving experience, it’s the perfect way to enter the underwater world in a simple, fun and accessible way. The goal is to enjoy the sea and try diving in a safe, controlled environment, always accompanied by a professional instructor.
During the activity you’ll learn the core concepts of diving and witness marine life while experiencing the unbelievable sensation of weightlessness underwater for the first time.
Our try dive is incredibly easy, fun and safe. Forget the nerves; our team will be with you every step of the way so you can focus on enjoying the magic of your first immersion.
We’ll kick things off with a fun, simple talk, breaking down the core concepts of diving and how the gear works. After that, we’ll get you geared up with our help. Our diving equipment is top-notch and brand new.
Before the real deal, we’ll do a quick comfort check in a shallow area where you can stand safely. You’ll practice breathing with the regulator and getting comfy with the mask. Once you’re feeling good, you’ll nail some basic exercises, always with your instructor.
When you’re ready, you’ll complete a real dive in the sea alongside your instructor. You’ll explore Malta’s fascinating marine life at a maximum depth of 12 metres, always at your own pace and under constant professional supervision.
Your try dive includes everything: the theory briefing, a certified instructor with you the whole time, wetsuit, full diving equipment and insurance. When you come out of the water there’s fruit or a hot broth waiting for you, to celebrate your first dive.
You'll get a crystal-clear, detailed briefing about the diving equipment, how it works, and the essential safety rules – all delivered with passion.
An instructor who speaks your language, in English, Spanish, Italian, French or German, and stays with you every step of the way.

The introductory dive is built for beginners. No experience needed, no special fitness required – just bring your desire to try something new and fall in love with your first dive!
Every regulator, BCD and gauge is serviced on a schedule and checked before it leaves the center. You dive in kit that is looked after, fitted to you on the day, and replaced long before it gets tired.
We work with small groups of maximum 4 people per instructor, guaranteeing personalised attention and the highest level of safety at all times. Our priority is that you enjoy your first underwater experience comfortably, calmly and safely.

The dive itself lasts 40 to 50 minutes, depending on your breathing and how comfortable you feel down there. The full experience, from arriving at the center to coming back out, takes around 3 hours.
You get a digital SSI try diving recognition at the end of the dive. It isn’t a full certification like the Open Water Diver, but it’s official proof that you dived.
Safety comes first. If the sea is rough we move your dive to another day or find a sheltered spot with good conditions. With centers on the north and south coasts there is almost always somewhere calm to dive.
If we have to cancel for weather or safety reasons, we reschedule your dive or offer you an alternative.
For cancellations on your side, the conditions are set out at the time of booking.
The try dive is a first taste of the underwater world, guided from start to finish. Our diving courses are full training: theory, practice and an official SSI and PADI certification. You can go straight into a course without doing a try dive first, and plenty of people do.
From age 10, as long as you’re comfortable in the water. Under 18s need permission from a parent or guardian.
A maximum of 4 divers per instructor. Small groups are what let us keep the experience safe and genuinely personal.
