Become a certified diver in just 2 or 3 days with the Open Water course. This beginner’s training will teach you to make real dives in the open sea, following a progressive, hands-on program.
At the end of the course, you’ll score the Open Water Diver certification, valid worldwide to dive up to 18 meters deep.
The Open Water Diver is the entry level of our diving courses in Malta. You learn from scratch and come away with an international certification to dive independently down to 18 metres.
It’s built for people with no experience at all who want to become certified divers, learning the fundamentals of recreational diving with professional instructors.
The course runs over 2 or 3 days (the shorter Scuba Diver course takes just 1), combining e-learning, confined water sessions and 6 dives, 4 of them in the open sea.
The Open Water course is developed in three progressive phases: theoretical training, practice in confined waters, and first dives in the open sea.
You start with the theory in e-learning format: the principles of diving, the basic safety rules and how the equipment works.
By the end you'll understand how to breathe underwater, communicate during a dive and plan simple dives.
Then come the confined water sessions, in a pool or a sheltered area, where you put the theory into practice.
You'll work on breathing, buoyancy control, equipment handling and the basic safety skills, building confidence before the open sea.
Finally you put everything together across a minimum of 6 dives, 4 of them in the open sea. We dive in spots suited to beginners, always with a professional instructor alongside you.
These dives give you real underwater experience and complete the requirements for your Open Water certification.
Our Open Water course includes everything you need, so you can focus on learning to dive from the moment you get in the water.
Full access to the e-learning digital system, with all the academic modules needed to complete the theoretical part of the Open Water certification. You can study from home before starting the practice.
A qualified SSI and PADI instructor with you from the first confined water session to the final dive, in groups of no more than four, adapting the pace to how you progress.
Mask, fins, wetsuit, BCD, regulator and tank, all serviced and in excellent condition.

The Open Water course is built for people starting from zero. No experience needed and no special physical condition required: you need to know how to swim, be in good general health and want to learn.
The Open Water certification lets you dive with another certified diver or join our guided dives in Malta, down to a maximum depth of 18 metres, without an instructor.
Once you finish the course and log your first 6 dives, you can explore the best dive sites in Malta: reefs, caves, wrecks and world-class seabeds.
The Open Water Diver is the first real step into recreational diving. From this level you can access the Advanced Open Water and specialties to keep leveling up your skills underwater.
Our certified instructors guide you step by step through the whole course, adapting the pace to how you progress and keeping the experience safe and personal.

Just bring a towel, water, swimsuit, and dry clothes for after the dives. We travel to the dive sites, so it’s important not to get into the vehicles with wet clothes.
The try dive is a first experience. The Open Water is a complete course that certifies you as a diver and allows you to dive independently.

Yes. It is an international certification, recognized by SSI or PADI and accepted in dive centers around the world.
Safety is a priority. If the sea conditions do not allow the dives to take place, the course is rescheduled or a suitable alternative is offered.

Yes. The open water course is a safe activity when carried out in a guided manner. You will always be under the direct supervision of a qualified instructor, in a controlled environment and increasing depth gradually.
That’s normal. The course is progressive and you will always be accompanied by an instructor, progressing at your own pace and only when you feel comfortable.
