The SSI Marine Ecology course is a specialty designed for certified divers who want to understand the structure of marine habitats, the relationships between species, and the human impact on the underwater environment.
The Marine Ecology course is one of our diving specialties for certified divers (minimum Open Water) who want to understand marine ecosystems and interact responsibly with the environment.
The specialty focuses on the study of Mediterranean habitats, the relationships between species, and the human impact on the marine environment, combining theory you can deepen with the Science of Diving and practical application in immersion. At the end, you will obtain the official Marine Ecology certification.
During the course, you will develop responsible interaction criteria and apply good conservation practices during the dive.
You will understand how rocky reefs, Posidonia meadows, and other characteristic habitats of Malta are structured.
You will learn to interpret trophic chains, predation dynamics and the biodiversity factors behind fish identification.
You will analyze how human activities affect the marine environment and what measures reduce the diver’s impact.
You will apply observation and buoyancy control techniques to minimize alterations to the environment.
Understand how the marine ecosystem works and dive with greater awareness of the environment.

Our scuba diving center in St Julian's is based at Portomaso Marina, Level -5 — a modern marina with direct sea access, right next to Sliema, Spinola and Paceville.
