What is the Scuba Diver?

The Scuba Diver course is an international certification built for those who want to start diving with official training but have limited time or prefer a more compact option than the Open Water Diver.

It’s a 1-day program that allows you to dive up to 12 meters deep accompanied by a professional, and covers approximately half of the content of the Open Water course.

During the course, you’ll learn the basics of recreational diving: equipment handling, buoyancy control, underwater communication, and essential safety procedures.

What does the Scuba Diver course involve?

The Scuba Diver course is developed in three progressive phases that combine theory, hands-on practice, and real experience in the sea.

Online Theoretical Training

We'll start with a fun and simple theoretical talk, where we'll explain the basic concepts of diving and how the equipment works.
Afterwards, you'll get kitted out with our help. The diving equipment is top-notch and completely new.

3 Confined Water Sessions

Before the dive, we'll perform a brief comfort check in a shallow area where you can safely stand.
You'll practice breathing with the regulator and using the mask for the first time. Once comfortable, you'll perform some basic exercises always accompanied by your instructor.

3 Open Water Dives

Explore vibrant reefs teeming with life and breathtaking vertical walls where you can observe Mediterranean fauna in crystal-clear waters with insane visibility. These are incredible dives to enjoy the local biodiversity and the characteristic underwater landscape of Malta.

Scuba Diver vs Open Water: What is the difference?

The Scuba Diver and the Open Water Diver are the two entry-level diving courses, but with different levels of autonomy.

The Scuba Diver is a more compact option designed for those who have less time or prefer to always dive accompanied by a professional. The Open Water Diver is the complete certification and allows greater autonomy from the first moment.

The Scuba Diver level can be expanded later by completing the remaining modules of the Open Water.

Training structure

  • Scuba Diver: 3 theoretical modules, 3 sessions in confined waters, and 3 open water dives.
  • Open Water: complete program with more theoretical content and a minimum of 4 open water dives.

Maximum depth

  • Scuba Diver: up to 12 meters, always under professional supervision.
  • Open Water: up to 18 meters, with autonomy alongside another certified diver.

Course duration

  • Scuba Diver: 1 day.
